Eleven Plus GL Assessment online teachers from India from £8 per hour
✅ The testing company Granada Learning (GL) creates 11+ tests. Numerous grammar schools and certain private schools in the UK use GL's 11+ entrance examinations to select the students to be given a place. GL Assessment was established by the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER). However, although the two entities are no longer associated, they still work together on many assessment programmes, with the NFER continuing to develop questions used in GL Assessment's 11 plus exams.
✅ GL assessments are mostly non-adaptive paper-based tests, where the difficulty does not change based on the child's responses. Because the subject includes all KS2 national curriculum objectives, including Year 6 content, as well as subjects not covered in school, home study is definitely required. Due to concerns of teaching to the GL test where it was perceived that tutored kids tended to much better in GL 11+ exams, the CEM 11 plus tests were later introduced as an alternative to GL. Unlike CEM, GL provides practise materials and is usually more transparent about their test's content.
✅ Age differenced advantages are negated in the GL scores. The ages of pupils in a normal school year group will differ by almost a year, with older students tending to get higher 11+ marks than younger students. The most effective and just solution to this problem is to standardize the test results by age. To level the playing field for all students, each student's actual age is considered while calculating the scores.
✅ GL uses a variety of question types across four disciplines (English, maths, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning), with questions drawn from the GL Assessment Question Bank of 15,000+ questions. Answers can be given in multiple choice or "standard form," which entails putting the answer in the space provided next to the question. With enough practise beforehand, children become used to these precise question styles. Hence, it is important to use a large number of sample test questions and practise tests while preparing for a GL 11+ test.
✅ A typical GL test is divided into 45 minute sections, eg. Math: 50 questions in 50 minutes, English: 56 questions in 45 minutes, 80 questions in 50 minutes for verbal reasoning, and 40 questions in 20 minutes for nonverbal reasoning. Examinees can't return to a section once it's allotted time is over. Each response is recorded on a separate answer sheet. The total score is then calculated by adding the marks from each section. Depending on the school, different subjects may have different weights. Because it varies by location or school, there is no standard GL 11 Plus pass mark.
